Privacy
This site works without sign-up and keeps as little as it can. This page says exactly what is kept, why, for how long and how to ask for it to be deleted.
Updated on October 11, 2026.
What is kept when you only look
Nothing that identifies you. Opening the page and viewing traffic creates no cookie and stores no data about you.
We count one opening per tab, with no identifier: only the day, country, city and language — country and city estimated from the internet address by the company that hosts the site — added to a counter. If you arrived through a shared link, we also count which channel (WhatsApp, Telegram…). There is no way back from these numbers to a person.
The company that hosts the site also measures, for us, how many people visit each page and how fast the site loads. It receives the page address, the site you came from, the country, the device type, the browser and the loading times. It uses no cookies, and the visit identifier is computed on the spot and discarded at the end of the day, so there is no way back to a person from it either.
What is kept when you report
Reporting is the only time the site keeps something linked to you — no name, email or phone number, but a number that links your reports together. That is why we treat this data as personal, not anonymous.
| Data | Why | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| The report | build the map and the history | segment, direction, flow, crossing mode, times, the reason for the delay (from a closed list) and the exact date and time |
| The completed crossing | work out the crossing time | direction, mode and how many minutes it took, when you tap "I have crossed" |
| Your coordinate | confirm you are on the bridge | the check uses the full reading, which is not stored. A version rounded to 4 decimal places (≈ 11 m) is stored with the report; no screen of the site uses it today |
| A number with no name | count one vote per person and let you correct what you reported | kept in a signed cookie, it links your reports together. It has no name or email |
| A mark of your IP | limit abuse | the IP is not readable in the database: we keep a code derived from it with a server secret, which only answers “is it the same as before?” |
Why we may process this data
The basis is legitimate interest (Brazil's LGPD, art. 7, IX): the report exists to inform people crossing, and the minimum kept with it serves to count one vote per person and curb abuse. We do not ask for consent to report — reporting is already the choice to contribute — so there is no consent to withdraw either; what you can do is under "Your rights".
Your location
Only your browser can grant location — we never obtain it without your permission. If you have not granted it yet, the request only appears when you open the report panel.
If you already granted it, the site reads your position once when a page opens, to suggest the direction and the destination of the navigation shortcut. That reading stays on your device: the position is only sent to the site when you report.
When you report, it confirms you are on the route (within 2.5 km of the bridge).
You can revoke the permission at any time in your browser settings. Without it you still see everything; you just cannot report.
Cookies and browser storage
One cookie is necessary, and it is only created when you report. The others keep choices you make and only exist if you make them. None is for advertising or tracking, and none is read by another site.
| Name | Where | Created when | Why | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ponte_session | cookie | only when you report or sign in | keep your number with no name, or your account | 1 year · 60 days (account) |
| ponte_lang | cookie | only if you change the language | remember the chosen language | 1 year |
| ponte_tema | cookie | only if you pick light or dark in Preferences | remember the theme | 1 year |
| ponte_meio | browser | only if you pick a crossing mode | pre-select the mode when you report | until you clear it |
| visita-contada | browser | when a page opens | count one opening per tab | until the tab closes |
| ponte:destino-sugerido | browser | when a direction is suggested | suggest the direction only once | until the tab closes |
Who else receives data
The site is hosted by Vercel, a US company, on servers in São Paulo; like any website, it logs the internet address and browser of each request in its own records. The database is at Neon, also on servers in São Paulo. Both process the data on our behalf and do not use it for themselves.
The traffic map belongs to Google and only loads when you tap the map button. At that moment Google receives your internet address, browser and page, and follows its own privacy policy.
The live cameras are third-party videos that only enter the page when you open the camera; they receive your internet address and browser.
The site's fonts are served by the site itself: opening a page does not make your browser contact Google because of them.
The navigation shortcuts (Waze, Google Maps) and sharing shortcuts (WhatsApp, Telegram) take you to those services only when you tap them.
When sharing, the microphone button uses your browser's speech recognition. The dictated text stays on your device and goes into the message — the site does not receive it — but the browser may send the audio to its own server (Chrome to Google, Safari to Apple), as with keyboard dictation. It only happens if you tap the microphone.
For how long
Reports are kept while the service exists: they are the history that answers “what is the best time to cross”, and deleting them would destroy the site's main purpose.
There is no set retention period or automatic deletion yet — not for reports, nor for the coordinate, the number with no name and the IP mark that go with them. We say so because it is the truth today, not because it is ideal; if you want yours deleted sooner, just ask.
Your rights
The data is processed in Brazil, so the LGPD applies to everyone, wherever you are from. It guarantees: confirming that processing exists and accessing the data, correcting what is wrong, requesting anonymisation, blocking or deletion, receiving the data in a readable format (portability), knowing who we share it with, objecting to the processing and complaining to Brazil's ANPD. People in Paraguay can ask for the same — access, rectification and cancellation — and we handle it the same way.
We reply within 15 days. Since there is no sign-up, telling us the approximate day, time and segment helps us find your reports — without that it may not be possible to locate them.
What this site does not do
- It does not sell data, nor share it beyond those who host the site, described above.
- It shows no advertising and uses no pixel or social-network tracker.
- It does not ask for a name, email, phone number or ID to report.
- It does not keep your IP readable in the database.
- It does not follow you around the city: your position is not read continuously, and it only leaves your device when you report.
