About Tô na Ponte
Tô na Ponte shows how the queue and traffic on the Friendship Bridge are right now, between Foz do Iguaçu and Ciudad del Este, based on what people who are crossing report.
Why it exists
There is no public, real-time source for how long it takes to cross the bridge. People who need to cross leave without knowing whether they will face a 10- or a 70-minute queue, and have no way to pick a better time.
The goal is to be the first place people check to know how the bridge is, with information from those who are actually on it — workers, people crossing with goods, tourists and drivers.
How it works
- People on the bridge report in a few taps, with no sign-up: which way they are going, how they are crossing and how each segment is — or the whole bridge.
- To report you need to be within 10 km of the bridge, with location enabled. That way reports come from people in the area, not from anywhere.
- The home screen combines the reports from the last 90 minutes into seven segments per direction, from one city centre to the other, and shows both lanes where the road splits.
- People who finish crossing can say how long it took; the median of those times is the crossing time shown on screen.
- History shows the quietest times by weekday and hour, based on accumulated reports.
What it is not
Tô na Ponte is not a service of Brazil's Receita Federal, the Paraguayan customs or any government, and is not affiliated with them. The information comes from the community: it may be outdated or wrong. Check it against what you see and drive carefully.
The brand
The name is what someone on the bridge would say in Portuguese: "tô na ponte", "I'm on the bridge". The brand aims to convey the same as the app — information that is current, quick, practical and from the people crossing.
The symbol is the bridge, reduced to its essence, inside a circle: the top line is the deck, where cars and people cross; the three vertical strokes are the pillars; and below is the arch, the structure that holds up the Friendship Bridge. Just two colours: bridge blue and white. It is a graphic interpretation, not an official seal.
The app works without sign-up and keeps as little as possible. What is kept, why and for how long is in Privacy.
